« Recent developments in relativistic outflows from gamma-ray bursts »

Raphaël Duque
Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (Paris, France)

The science of gamma-ray bursts is currently living a revolution entailed by the multi-messenger observations of a binary neutron star merger on August 17th 2017. In particular, important developments have recently been made on the study of the relativistic outflows from these mergers and the emission of radiation therein, from the gamma-ray burst to the radio afterglow. I will describe the observations of this historic event and their interpretation in chronological order and give some insight on current subsequent developments in the study of gamma-ray bursts.
