We explore the tenuous atmospheres of two Jovian satellites: Ganymede and Europa. A 3D-parallelized magnetospheric model is being developed for Ganymede (Turc et al. 2014), and an accompanying exospheric model is underway. Here we explore the contribution of tidal heating to the effective surface temperature of the satellites, which can strongly affect mass loss rates, as is evident on Io (Peale et al. 1979). Galileo observations (Orton et al. 1996), indicate that there are still variations on the order of tens of kelvins that albedo variations alone cannot account for. Tidal heating due to the Laplace resonance, has been largely neglected as a current driver for atmospheric production. Here we present fundamental tidal parameters for Europa \& Ganymede, using Io as a reference point. Lastly, we discuss implications for future modeling efforts within and beyond the Jovian system.
