« Euclid's view of the galaxies in the Local Universe »

Teymoor Saifollahi
Obs. Strasbourg (Strasbourg, France)

During six years of its mission, the Euclid Wide Survey (EWS) will observe galaxies across different environments (galaxy clusters, galaxy groups, and in isolation) and redshift with high spatial resolution and depth in the visible and near-infrared. By providing unprecedented detail and information on galaxies, Euclid has the potential to transform our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. Within the Local Universe, Euclid's VIS+NISP data, combined with ground-based observations, is an exceptional dataset for studying detailed morphology, stellar populations, globular clusters, and the environments of galaxies from the most massive galaxies to dwarf galaxies. This talk provides highlights on the past and ongoing efforts within the Euclid Collaboration and Science Working Group "Local Universe" to study nearby galaxies, including the Euclid pre-launch projects, the Early Release Observations (ERO) programme, as well as Q1/DR1 projects.
