« Bayesian reconstruction of the cosmic Dark Matter flow »

We describe a Bayesian algorithm to reconstruct the cosmic velocity field directly from distances and redshifts of observed galaxies. We consistently propagate errors on distance and redshift measurements by reconstructing distances and redshifts alongside with the velocity field. Our algorithm consistently treats miscalibrations, selection effects and non-linearities causing imperfect correlations between galaxy velocities and the dark matter velocity field. Our algorithm can easily be extended to perform a joint
reconstruction of the cosmic velocity and density field in the non-linear regime allowing for a more exhaustive use of the information of galaxy surveys about the local dark matter structures.
