Strong gravitational lensing time delays can provide a precise measurement of the Hubble constant, both fully independent of the local distance ladder and the CMB. I highlight the technique and the assumptions that go into this measurement and present the recent update of the TDCOSMO collaboration and put those in context with previous measurements. I will then look in the near future and highlight the prospects of this technique with increasing sample size, analysis techniques and advances in instrumentation.
