The standard model of cosmology, ?CDM, has established itself as a robust and accurate way of describing the universe. Nevertheless, our understanding is incomplete: we are left to wonder about the nature of dark matter, the masses of neutrinos, and the difference between high- and low-redshift measures of the expansion rate and the growth of structures. In this talk, I will pursue these topics by presenting constraints on cosmology from SPT-3G 2018 EE/TE, the latest cosmic microwave background dataset from the South Pole Telescope collaboration. I explore implications for the standard model and search for evidence of new physics using the SPT-3G data alone and in combination with Planck data and baryon acoustic oscillation measurements. Finally, I highlight the synergy of SPT-3G and Planck data and provide a forecast of the constraining power of the full SPT-3G survey.
