"Large deviation principle in large scale structure cosmology"

Large Deviations Theory deals with the rate at which probabilities of certain events decay as a natural parameter of the problem varies, and is applied in many different fields. In this talk I will discuss some of the basics of the theory and show that, starting with gaussian distributed overdensities on concentric spherical shells, a Large Deviation Principle holds for the densities at corresponding shells after gravitational evolution if no shell-crossing happens. As a consequence of the Large Deviation Principle the cumulant generating function for the non-linear densities is obtained. I'll also discuss the reconstruction of the corresponding probability density function, and comparison with numerical simulations.
