« Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Rays: First Answers and New Puzzles »

Ralph Engel

Understanding the origin of the highest energy cosmic rays is one of the central questions of modern astroparticle physics. Over the last decade much progress has been made in collecting data of these rare particles. While some of the theoretical expectations have been confirmed, the data force us to consider a number of fundamental questions that nobody had foreseen. After reviewing recent measurements of high-energy cosmic rays, different classes of models for their interpretation will be introduced and corresponding questions discussed.
