« Astrophysics and Cosmology with the next generation gamma-ray detectors »

The remarkable success of observational gamma-ray astronomy in the high-energy and very-high energy regimes, together with extensive theoretical and phenomenological studies of nonthermal processes in the Universe, led to a deeper insight into a number of fundamental problems of high energy astrophysics and astroparticle physics. Although generally the main motivations of gamma-ray astronomy remain unchanged, the recent observational results introduced important corrections to our understanding of many relevant phenomena. They revealed new features which in many cases require revisions of current theoretical models or demand formulations of new concepts which can be inspected, specified and further developed on the basis of new observations by the next generation gamma-ray detectors.
