« Baryon Acoustic Oscillations: Current and future cosmological constraints »

Shaun Cole
Dept. Physics, Univ. Durham (Durham, Grande Bretagne)

I'll briefly review the origin of Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAOs) and the constraints that arise from existing detections in SDSS and 2dFGRS data.
I'll review their potential for setting future high precision cosmological constraints by reviewing systematics that arise from non-linear evolution, redshift space distortions and bias. Predicted cosmological constraints will be presented for planned ground and space based surveys. I'll give an update on Pan-STARRS1, the first of this next generation of surveys, and forecasts of its cosmological constraints.
