Few tips to start with your Mac...
Start your Mac:
✓ First launch it and pray - Use the same Login as IAP, everything will be easier later...short name cause it will be your homedir name!
✓ Install X11 with the disk that will allow you to have Linux on your Mac
✓ Install Xcode with the same CD: will allow you to have an GUI/editor/compilator gcc
Install programs on your Mac:
Office (word, powerpoint, etc...)
Come and see JM for Microsoft Office disks+licences
Or get Open office:
2 Mac-soft managers:
very usefull, you HAVE to install it/them:

✓ FINK:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/
From Fink, launch Fink Commander interface and get: gv, xpdf, etc...
or command line:
✓ sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get install gv
That will install the program in:
/sw/bin/
Fortran
go and get it: http://hpc.sourceforge.net/index.php
gfortran-intel-bin.tar.gz (Intel Mac gfortran only)
then copy it to /usr/ you will have a /usr/local/bin/g77
FTP:
You are in bashrc:
edit your .bashrc:
PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH
EMACS:

sudo port -v install tetex (30mins)
GUI Latex
