The XVIIIth IAP astrophysical colloquium will be held from July 1, 2002 until July 5, 2002 at the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris, (France). The topic of this yearly meeting is the nature of the dark energy and the cosmological constant problem. The aim of the conference is to gather astrophysicists, cosmologists and particle physicists to review observational and theoretical results on the accelerating universe and to initiate new directions of research.

    Registration
    The registration fee is  200 Euros and includes a copy of the proceedings, the conference dinner, the cocktail and the five lunch tickets. The registration fees can be paid at the conference. Cheques can also be sent before the conference to :

    Academic (Preliminary) Program
    The academic program will consist of plenary lectures in the  morning and of research talks in the afternoon. A preliminary list of plenary lectures can be consulted here .     Proceedings
    The proceedings of the conference will be published by the Frontier Group. To prepare your contribution, you are kindly requested to use the Conference files which can be retrieved here

     
    Social events
    On Monday 1st of July, a welcoming cocktail will be offered in the historical hall "Salle Cassini" of the Observatoire de Paris. A 5mn walk through the observatory gardens leads to the "Salle Cassini" from IAP.
    The conference banquet will take place on Thursday 4th, at the "restaurant de la tour Eiffel" located at the first floor of the Eiffel tower. The dinner will start at 7 pm. After the dinner, the participants will be invited to access the third floor from which a nice view of Paris by night is offered.

     
    How to reach the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris?
    IAP is located at 98 bis, boulevard Arago, in the 14th "arrondissement", very close to Place Denfert-Rochereau and the  Denfert-Rochereau metro and RER-B (suburban) stations. More information is given here .

    Accomodation
    The hotels in this list are located close to IAP (in some cases, the tenant will be willing to give a discount for participants: make sure to ask and mention that you are attending a conference at IAP!). Participants must book their hotel as soon as possible.
